Hope and ChainZ: the Rise of Vikings Victory Ice

If you didn't see it evolve over the first half of the season, you wouldn't of the 2022 season, you wouldn't believe it. It was probably the most unlikely victory tradition you could imagine. But it's real, and it's fantastic.

After the Minnesota Vikings' Week 3 win in London over the New Orleans Saints, a new tradition was born. A video from the team plane ride home showed Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins decked out in tackle Christian Darrisaw's diamond encrusted necklace. The amused wonder on Cousins' face as he spun the sparkling pendant was fantastic. I watched it and suspected that the notably frugal quarterback was figuring out how to affordably duplicate the look with a Bedazzler and a fidget spinner.

The sheer incongruity of Kirk Cousins and conspicuous bling was an instant sensation. The public wanted more and got it after Minnesota won another road game, this time against the Miami Dolphins. Now, in addition to Darrisaw's necklace, Kirk was draped in at least two more necklaces. Diamond swag accessorized Kirk's post-game outfit of a white t-shirt tucked neatly into dark sweatpants. Could life get any better than that?

Minnesota's "Cardiac Kids" answered with an emphatic YASSS when, after winning at Cousins' former team the Washington Commanders, the diamond crew struck again. This time, Kirk must have been adorned with every diamond necklace in the locker room. Not only was Kirk iced in enough diamonds to buy a nice home in the suburbs, but they had him dancing--shirtless. The ridiculously strapped Kirk was instructed in his dance moves as his teammates cheered him on and recorded the moment on their phones. His evolution from mild mannered, "I'll have her home by 9pm, sir," Kirk Cousins to "she calls me daddy" Kirko Chains/KirkThuggins was now complete.

What had started as a completely organic team celebration became a cultural phenomenon.

Like everyone else, we wanted in on the action. But, lacking the signing bonus money that it would take to purchase the kind of ice the Vikings players wear, we came up with something less valuable, but fun and accessible for the ordinary Jerome--the #VictoryIce bandana.

Whether you have cash to burn or are saving your jelly beans, Purple FTW!'s #VictoryIce bandana is a fun way to hop in on the trend without worrying that you'll need personal security to keep from getting mugged.

Do it up and get your very own #VictoryIce bandana because the 2022 Minnesota Vikings season is fun and worth celebrating.
